The Brazilian Wandering Spider

The Brazilian Wandering Spider is the most venomous spider in the WORLD! This spider is also known as the "Banana Spider" for its temptation to hang out in bunches of bananas. I want to help you learn more about this spider and what to look for when bitten by it.

Appearance

What to look for when identifying this dangerous spider is its leg span, eyes, legs, and jaws. The Brazilian Wandering Spider has a leg span of up to 4-5 inches. It has 8 eyes which includes 2 large eyes. It has strong, spiny legs and its jaw turns red when angry. Even though the Brazilian Wandering Spider looks like the Tarantula, it is not. In fact, they are not even from the same family! This fast-moving spider and the Tarantula have only one thing in common, they do not feed on bananas.

Bites

All though the Brazilian Wandering Spider's bites are said to be dangerous, scientists are still debating on if a single bite is deadly or not. Only 2% of these spider bites require antivenom (mostly in children). Symptoms to look for when thought to have been bitten includes immediate pain, cold sweats, and heart irregulaties. The bite is very painful and requires medical attention right away. There has been an antidote made by a man in Brazil.

Reproduction

There is very little information about ths spider's mating life but there are a few facts I would like to share with you. After mating the males leave to escape the female's predatory instincts. They have a life span of 1-2 years.

Food

There is not a lot of information about what they ate either but I do have some I will mention. They eat crickets, other large insects,  small lizards, and mice.

Location

The Brazilian Wandering Spider was founded in Brazil which is why it is named the Brazilian Wandering Spider. Recently, the spider is known to exist in South and Central America. It hidez in dark spaces in the daytime such as within houses, clothes, cars, boots, boxes, and log piles. The Brazilian Wandering Spider does not maintain webs and wanders on jungle floors.

You need to mention the bite of this spider causes Priapism in male humans - an erection that is massive, painful and lasts hours, keeping you in agony until it subsides, and when it does it has burst most of the major blood vessels and capillaries, and torn muscles in the penis and leaves the victim permanently impotent.
